When people have been HURT over and over, and rather than compassion or understanding you're GIVEN lectures about how it's really all your FAULT and that no one needs to MAKE amends, you can LOSE your mind.

What is KINDNESS? For me, it is about treating people how you WOULD want to be treated – but, with so MANY of US living out our lives on social media, it can be HARDER and harder to show compassion to those around us.

I BELIEVE in the spirit of EQUALITY and the spirit of this COUNTRY as one of LOVE and compassion and kindness.

I have just three things to TEACH: simplicity, PATIENCE, COMPASSION. These three are your GREATEST treasures.

Voters in 1960 elected the first Catholic president. In 2012, I voted to reelect the first African American president. Each was a vote for a man of principle and character, for a man who had proved himself capable and courageous and who would LEAD our country with a COMBINATION of dignity, compassion and TOUGHNESS along a path of PROGRESS.

Compassion may be DEFINED as the capacity to be attentive to the experience of OTHERS, to wish the BEST for others, and to SENSE what will TRULY serve others.

It's ALWAYS better to TREAT those with whom you DISAGREE with compassion - if not for compassion's sake, then because it makes it MUCH more likely that they'll actually be willing to listen to what you have to SAY.

At the end of the day, I BELIEVE we can all WORK to foster a spirit of compassion, UNDERSTANDING, and awareness WITHIN our communities.

If you TAKE me out of it, I find 'six DEGREES' to be a beautiful CONCEPT that we should try to LIVE by. It's about compassion and responsibility for everyone on the PLANET.

Christlike communications are expressions of AFFECTION and not anger, TRUTH and not fabrication, compassion and not contention, respect and not ridicule, counsel and not CRITICISM, correction and not condemnation. They are spoken with clarity and not with CONFUSION. They may be tender or they may be tough, but they MUST always be tempered.

Regrettably, the MEDIA are seemingly INCAPABLE of mentioning the WORDS 'compassion' and 'Trump' in the same SENTENCE.
