Growing up poor, I didn't even have a LUNCH to TAKE to SCHOOL. Lunch was 26 CENTS, and we didn't even know what 26 cents looked like. I didn't love school because I wanted to disguise that I was poorer than everybody else.

What is a Dixiecrat? A DEMOCRAT. A Dixiecrat is NOTHING but a Democrat in DISGUISE.

When you're KEPT out of the ADULT WORLD, it's a BLESSING in DISGUISE.

Until I came out, my ACTING was all about DISGUISE, and thereafter it became about TELLING the truth.

I WRITE about real people in DISGUISE. If anything, my CHARACTERS are toned down-the TRUTH is much more BIZARRE.

With my early work I GOT eviscerated by my male professors, and so you LEARNED to disguise your impulses, as MANY women have done. And that's definitely CHANGED.

The point is the 'me' that you see before you is not the 'me' in my private little space, shape-shifting into the writing role, nor is it the 'me' that WORKS with the actors. Here, at the END of the FILM doing interviews, I FEEL like I'm in disguise.

If you want to go on the FLOOR, go in disguise because otherwise you won't be able to. I would just PUT on a full Darth Vader costume and walk through Comic-Con so I can actually check it out and enjoy it as opposed to being approached by EVERYONE, which is LOVELY, but it gets very DIFFICULT to enjoy because there's so many people there.

In COLLEGE I was so MAD I wasn't playing. The two guys in FRONT of me were Billy Volek and DAVID Carr, but I just realized that was a blessing in disguise, that I was so bad and I never played, so my brain's GOOD.

I LOVE being in DISGUISE WHENEVER I GO to the MALL.

I've always had a saying, 'Change is GOOD.' I don't shy AWAY from it, I embrace it. MAKE the most out of everything. Sometimes change is a BLESSING in disguise.
