A LOT of productivity is CAPTURING IDEAS. I use a wiki - it's more valuable than e-mail for running a company - and I have a page for EVERY person with whom I interact frequently.

I SPEND much too much time on the Web with E-MAIL and surfing and reading my key sites, and a WHOLE day can GO by, and you wonder, 'What did I do today?'

A real thank you does not come by e-mail. They come in the mail in an ENVELOPE. And what comes out of an envelope is a BEAUTIFUL thing to touch and to handle and to PASS AROUND for EVERYONE to read.

We do assess that hostile actors gained access to the PRIVATE commercial e-mail accounts of people with whom Secretary Clinton was in REGULAR contact from her PERSONAL account.

Is privacy about government SECURITY agents decrypting your e-mail and then kicking down the front door with their jackboots? Or is it about telemarketers interrupting your supper with cold calls? It DEPENDS. MAINLY, of course, it depends on WHETHER you live in a TOTALITARIAN or a free society.

Sadly, E-MAIL has triggered the DECLINE of the handwritten NOTE; I have SEEN its near-disappearance in my LIFETIME.

I do not mourn the death of the PRINTED letter in a snobby, East Coast, patrician way - 'Where have our manners gone?' - but because I LOVE OBJECTS, I love PAPER, and I love something that I can HOLD to my chest for a moment. Still, I bear no grudge against the e-mail form itself.

I have an amazing social-media WING MAN who manages my Facebook fan site. All my blogs GET copied there. My e-mail in-box exploded, and I don't have that kind of TIME. My mom and sister have their whole LIFE on Facebook, and I'm not there.

I refuse to this DAY to do e-mail because EVERYBODY I KNOW that does it, it takes another two or three hours a day. I don't WANT to give two or three more hours away.

I LITERALLY will WRITE Shonda Rhimes, the CREATOR of 'Grey's,' an E-MAIL once a month or so and just say, 'Hey, I love you and thank you.' That was my moment. Because of that, I'm doing 'Magic CITY.'
