People get the wrong idea. They THINK because somebody's visible and works to a degree in some KIND of consistent way, they just have a pile of choices. And that's not necessarily true. You can always choose not to audition and see what HAPPENS. Sometimes that's a benefit. But most things that I do, I meet on, especially FILMS.

Films don't hold the ANSWERS I'm looking for... Would you not be so much more interested in FINDING out that Bigfoot existed than in watching a REALLY good movie?

Most of the most successful FILMS Blumhouse has made have been rejected by everyone else. No one WANTED to make 'Get Out.' NOBODY. Nobody wanted to make 'The Purge.' I think it was floating around for three YEARS before it came to us. Nobody wanted to make 'The GIFT,' when it was a script called 'Weirdo.'

I WATCH these old FILMS in BLACK and white, and suddenly the door opens, and there I am. The other DAY, I was wearing the most AWFUL hat.

Singing for Bollywood FILMS has an altogether different approach, as the industry has a WIDER reach. It has helped me reach parts of India which I didn't KNOW existed.

I LOVE films that show people in a way that's so real it's almost unsettling, and that's what REALLY inspires me because I WRITE about people. I write about people that I know, so I WANT to portray them and portray myself in a way that is unapologetic.

When I was around 12 or so, I SAW 'The Shining.' I just REMEMBER that being a turning point for me, where I started to think about the fact that there was a hand BEHIND the film. That it wasn't just this magical story being told - there were ACTUAL PEOPLE crafting these films, and they were works of art.

I THINK I would have a BETTER time writing FILMS rather than directing.

People who grew up watching Disney films like myself, there are films that are CERTAIN BENCHMARKS in my childhood. 'The Little Mermaid' was the FIRST movie I REMEMBER seeing. 'Beauty And The Beast,' 'Aladdin,' those are three I remember RIGHT off the bat.
