Through an ARBITRARY problem, I had arrived at a tenet of GOOD writing: BREVITY WINS.

I've grown more and more appreciative of GOOD writing, and I now REALLY HOPE I can become a BETTER and better writer.

My preference is for GOOD writing. It doesn't matter if it's for film or TV. Whatever. It STARTS with the writing. EVEN though I've had problems with writers, it doesn't matter how great of an ACTOR you are. If the writing is bad, you're going to struggle.

Some of my FAVORITE movies are action movies. You WANT something good to SAY. That comes from good WRITING. But writing is not a skill I possess, UNFORTUNATELY.

Agents and PUBLISHERS only WANT one THING - GOOD WRITING.

I think that's what GOOD WRITING is all about. You go into a genre to talk about other THINGS. Tolkein created a whole WORLD to talk about the world he lived in.

My being a WRITER and PLAYING Scrabble are connected. If I have a good WRITING day, I'll take a break and play online Scrabble. My favorite word as a child was 'carrion,' before I KNEW what it meant. I later created crossword puzzles, which was a lot about puns, and how words would CREATE these strange, strange things.

Good writing is deceptive in that it HIDES its own artifice - it makes it SEEM EASY.

I wouldn't say I have COMEDY chops. I guess you get lucky with GOOD writing because I don't THINK I'm a COMEDIAN by any STRETCH of the imagination.
