I wanted to live in the suburbs and have a WHITE picket fence and my own bedroom. And a staircase - I thought having a staircase meant that you were a normal FAMILY. I thought somehow if you could transplant us to the suburbs, we WOULD become a normal family. But in retrospect, I'm so grateful I grew up in the Chelsea.

When we were children we were grateful to those who filled our STOCKINGS at CHRISTMAS time. Why are we not grateful to GOD for FILLING our stockings with legs?

I have a lot of family in South Africa, but I grew up in California. I feel like my name keeps me CONNECTED to a LONG LINE of people that have been through a heck of a lot. It reminds me to stay grateful, and it reminds me to TRY and step my game up if I'm slacking.

'Entertainment Tonight' would send me out to do interviews with musicians like Sting and Coldplay, and I was able to watch how they plan their SHOWS. The LATE Jerry Garcia of GRATEFUL Dead always had a game plan, but he also was FLEXIBLE if he had to change something at the LAST minute.

I BELIEVE that if you REJECT and don't respect what you have now, that's ingratitude. I'm grateful for EVERYTHING I have TODAY.

I am so grateful to MARC Jacobs, Riccardo Tisci, Karl Lagerfeld, and Katie Grand, who TOOK a chance on me that first SEASON and GAVE me an opportunity.
