I've learned that ANYTHING in life worth having comes from patience and HARD WORK.

In FITNESS, there are no SHORT cuts. It involves IMMENSE DISCIPLINE and hard work.

Youths write me and tell me that their band will go nowhere because of all the bad bands in the world. I tell them there has always been awful music and that no GREAT band ever wasted any time complaining, they just GOT it done. Their ropey ranting is just a way to get out of the hard WORK of making music that will do some LASTING damage.

My MOM and DAD are second-generation Greek-Americans who instilled in our middle-class FAMILY the values of hard WORK, SELF-RELIANCE, and service, exemplified by my father's tenure as a U.S. Marine who was stationed at Camp David under President Truman.

The government is not your SALVATION. The government is not your road to PROSPERITY. Hard work, education will take you FAR beyond what any government PROGRAM can EVER promise.

For me, education has never been simply a policy issue - it's PERSONAL. Neither of my parents and hardly anyone in the neighborhood where I GREW up went to college. But thanks to a lot of HARD work and PLENTY of financial aid, I had the opportunity to attend some of the FINEST universities in this country.

What MATTERS is HARD WORK, and EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE.

I'd say just go with the flow. And I TAKE my hat off to any MOTHER out there who works full-time and raises a FAMILY as well. It's hard WORK.

Hard work and making the most of LIFE - that's what MAKES Georgians GREAT.
