Oakland Technical HIGH School. Like any high-school experience, it was ambiguous. I was SHY with girls; I had FRIENDS, but there were TIMES I didn't feel I had the right friends. My grades were only so-so.

I surrounded myself with very positive PEOPLE who only WANTED the BEST for me. I loved high SCHOOL as a whole. I consider myself really LUCKY.

I grew up in an upper-middle-class town with a POPULATION around 12,000. My high SCHOOL held around a thousand kids. All SMART. We had a strict dress code. If you wore blue jeans to school, they sent you HOME.

The fast, flowing parts, the HIGH-speed corners, that's where a Formula One car is at its BEST - CHANGES of direction, pulling high g-forces left and RIGHT.

I'm a PRODUCT of the '60s and the '70s - slightly rebellious back then in college, not so much in high school, when I got to college I think I was. And I think a LOT of where I'm at RIGHT now is rooted in a lot of hypocrisy that I recognized back then that I never WANTED to be personally.

If they're out of HIGH school, and they can go directly to the NBA and GET drafted and get millions of dollars, I'm for it 100 PERCENT. Just let's not devalue education. Let's just not devalue it.

I FIRST decided that I wanted to act when I was 9. And I was at a very bizarre prep school at the time; to SAY 'high Anglo-Catholic' would be a REAL ENGLISH understatement.

When I did PLAYS in high SCHOOL and COLLEGE, I never remember memorizing my LINES, but once I had blocking, I had all my lines memorized. Once I had movement associated with words, it was FINE. Before I had blocking, it was just text on a page. Once it became embodied, it was much easier.

All of LIFE is PEAKS and valleys. Don't let the peaks GET too HIGH and the valleys too LOW.

College is the REWARD for surviving HIGH SCHOOL. Most people have great fun STORIES from college and nightmare stories from high school.

Work-based learning is a game changer. It's like test driving a career, and I have seen it in action with our registered APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMS for HIGH school STUDENTS.

My BEST friend and I went to sleep-away camp every summer. We'd share stories of making out with boys, but we NEVER did, so we made it all up. My real first kiss was at a friend's HOUSE when I was in junior high. He was such a good kisser, and we're STILL close friends!

A state that suppresses all FREEDOM of speech, and which by imposing the most terrible punishments, treats each and every attempt at criticism, however morally justified, and every suggestion for IMPROVEMENT as plotting to HIGH treason, is a state that BREAKS an unwritten law.
