One of the first CDS I EVER BOUGHT was Alicia Keys's 'MTV Unplugged' album. That album is the one I would TAKE home and listen to on my Walkman, in my room, before I had an iPod. I learned most of the songs on PIANO.

My VOICE hasn't CHANGED really very MUCH. I still do all my SONGS when I perform live and still do them in the original keys. I've been BLESSED with that ability to retain that.

One of the most IMPORTANT keys to GETTING through to ANYONE and then influencing them is to realize that inside everyone's MIND, they listen to SOMEONE or something.

If I had to come up with something that just came to me, I think GROWING up in a SMALL TOWN, I want KNOWLEDGE. I still think TODAY, knowledge is one of the keys.

Career wise, CONSISTENCY is one of the keys to LONGEVITY. When you are consistent PEOPLE know what they are going to get, and that's the foundation for having a LONG career.

With Klaxons I had an instrument, so I had a job to PLAY keys. EVERYONE's ROLES GET defined early in BANDS, so you're 'that guy who does this one thing' and it felt too restrictive doing that.

I GREW up down in Florida, and in the KEYS, there's this place called Sea Camp which was not unlike Space Camp, EXCEPT you explored the sea. And so that kind of whetted my appetite for that. But then I ended up SWIMMING in a lagoon full of Cassiopeia jellyfish, and that quickly quashed that desire to be a marine biologist.

Me COMING to Tampa made perfect SENSE. I felt like they had all the KEYS I NEEDED and vice versa. I can help the team out and ALSO they can help me.

I REMEMBER things that HAPPENED sixty YEARS ago, but if you ask me where I left my car keys FIVE minutes ago, that's SOMETIMES a problem.

I don't play any INSTRUMENTS. I don't PRODUCE. I don't know which keys or chords I am USING, so, in essence, I NEED the BAND and the production team - otherwise, I am just some guy with a hat and a song.

Do something ACTIVE that's fun. On tour with Kanye and COMMON, we would have basketball GAMES on a court in every city we went to. With Alicia Keys, we would mountain-bike across Vancouver ISLAND. With Lady Gaga, we would EXPLORE all the cool neighborhoods.

I don't NEED to DRIVE. I have no BUSINESS driving. I would never be able to FIND my keys.

My life is very WELL managed. I have a lot on my plate, and at the same time, there were STILL holes, and what I do and where I am dovetails nicely with what Agnieszka needs. I don't think I could be a coach for a Madison Keys because she needs SOMEBODY more hands-on. But Agnieszka is ALMOST a finished product.
