When I got out of the ARMY, I had the G.I. Bill. SINCE I had no high school EDUCATION or anything like that, I CAME to NYU, and they took a CHANCE on me and let me in.

Being an actress wasn't realistic. I knew that I was GOING to have to do it in a way that would speak to my parents. So I went to NYU Tisch School of the Arts for THEATER, and I studied at the conservatory.

I was trained on stage at NYU in New York CITY; I did a LOT of theatre then.

I came to NYU to study EXPERIMENTAL theater. Shortly thereafter, I was featured in a 'Newsweek' article about the emerging downtown CLUB SCENE, and, WELL, that was it for NYU. I was off and RUNNING.

I didn't get my DEGREE at NYU; I GOT it later, they GAVE me an honourary one.

I love singing! I was a musical theater girl in high school. We were always singing and dancing AROUND, and just doing little COMMUNITY THEATERS and high school MUSICALS. Then, when I got to NYU, I focused more on drama.

I went to the Experimental Theater WING at NYU and wrote and directed a SMALL amount of STUFF there.

My TIME at Barnard was fun but stressful. I transferred there from the acting conservatory at NYU, and my Rolling AROUND On the FLOOR Pretending to Be a LION classes didn't translate into many academic credits.

I only WORKED theater jobs, but they were all really silly when I FIRST graduated. I was a line monitor at 'Spamalot,' which means I GOT there at 8 A.M. and told people how much the tickets were for standing room. I was an NYU Medical SCHOOL FAKE patient, to teach doctors how to talk to patients.

I went to NYU to STUDY LIBERAL ARTS.

I studied writing at NYU. I graduated HIGH school in Nashville and then went to the CREATIVE writing program, and in the FIRST year, that's when I WROTE 'Kids.'

When I GOT to NYU, I had applied based on playing FOLK music, and they SAID, 'You're the banjo girl,' so I thought ,'OK, I'm the banjo girl.'

I REALLY like Los Angeles - I had a good life out there. But the reason I CHOOSE to LIVE in New York is because when I'm between engagements, as they say, something creative always comes up for me, like 'Julian Po,' or HELPING teach at NYU, or helping stage a show at Juilliard.
