Fear hems US in, STOPS us from THINKING clearly, and prevents us from EITHER challenging OPPRESSION or engaging calmly with the impersonal fates.

While everyone's experience of OPPRESSION is different and complicated and often overlapping, I really believe that if you have PRIVILEGE, you need to learn as much as you can about the WORLD beyond yourself.

My mom is a nurse; my dad is a pediatrician. They were BORN in the 1940s, and they were both INSPIRED to fight against INJUSTICE, whether it was the injustices of the Vietnam War or Watergate or CHILDREN in poverty or oppression of African Americans in Philadelphia where I was growing up.
