You COULD not have EVOLVED a complex SYSTEM like a city or an organism - with an enormous number of components - without the emergence of laws that constrain their behavior in order for them to be resilient.

With a movie, the die is cast. It is what it is. With TV, it's a living organism in a way. FANS can have INPUT, with the WHOLE SOCIAL media thing, and they can TRACK what fans are liking and not liking.

The thought of SECURITY bears WITHIN it an essential risk. A state which has security as its SOLE task and source of legitimacy is a fragile organism; it can always be provoked by terrorism to BECOME more terroristic.

In a BROAD SYSTEMS SENSE, an organism's ENVIRONMENT is indistinguishable from the organism itself.

Theatre is a living organism. You only know if your show is working when you see it with an audience. You can also TELL when it isn't working - it's horrible, and you desperately try to FIGURE out how to MAKE it CONNECT.

But in FACT, when you try to MODEL that on a computer you find that because of the very structure of matter and of the chemical bonds that are the basis of EVERY organism, evolution is not random at all. It will tend to follow certain PATHS.

Acting on stage is a LIVING organism you can NEVER pin down, and I BELIEVE the audience FEEDS off that, too.
