The first music-learning thing that I took seriously was piano lessons when I was a KID. I GUESS that was probably the only time that I was forced to PERFORM music, because I had piano recitals, and my school also had MANDATORY music classes that had some performing required.
I was put through piano lessons when I was a kid. I say 'put through' because it was fun and I LOVED it, and it's been beneficial now, but it was difficult because, although I can READ music, I much PREFER just playing and improvising and at least FINDING my own way to play an instrument.
I started taking PIANO lessons from the AGE of SIX years old. It's such an essential part of what I do in the production process. I wouldn't be Kygo today without those piano lessons.
My parents made me take PIANO lessons from 1st GRADE to when I graduated from high school, and music never came to me as NATURALLY as my other more visual ARTISTICTALENTS.
Music is SOMETHING I couldn't live without. My dad was into music, he played for PLEASURE - guitar, piano. I started off doing jazz, SINGING with a lot of fabulous musicians here in London before I went to the States. And I still take piano lessons every WEDNESDAY.
