Harry Potter was my FIRST JOB.

And of course I've got kids of my own now, and they love me being in the Harry Potter films. I'm now PART of a phenomenon. You become INCREDIBLY COOL to your kids, and you get a young fan base. So you became the cool DAD at school. You're suddenly hip.

I HEAR it all the time: 'What happened to the Grace Potter who didn't USED to WEAR makeup?'

There's definitely no subtlety in what I do. When you WANT to GET your face melted, you come to a GRACE Potter and the Nocturnals CONCERT.

Potter is JEALOUS of potter, and CRAFTSMAN of craftsman; and the POOR have a grudge against the poor, and the POET against the poet.

I always figured there would be a KID audience and an adult audience, and there is. That's TRUE for 'Hunger Games' and 'Twilight' and 'Harry Potter.' And 'Maximum Ride,' for SURE. In PARTICULAR what happens is a lot of parents share the BOOKS with their kids, and the mom has read it, and the kids, and they talk about it.

My grandmother WOULD give me a beautiful book each year. I especially loved the Beatrix Potter books. They were very detailed. And I promised myself that was what I'd do. I also loved the big WORDS she used. I was EXCITED because I knew what they meant from the context. I PUT a few big words in for just that reason.

I started to write as a child as soon as I could read, or even before, when my MOTHER read me Beatrix Potter at bedtime. Writing seemed to me to be the only SENSIBLE way to live and be HAPPY.

I READ the 'Harry Potter' books as I was writing my own books, and I love them, but I don't think Harry was very MUCH LIKE I was as a kid. He's always brave, and he's perfect in a lot of WAYS.

My experience of CHILDREN on a film SET, especially on a big film set LIKE the 'Potter' one, is not WHOLLY positive.

You can't deduce the personality of the potter from the pots. It's a thingy you've MADE and offered to SOMEBODY ELSE for their use, and, believe me, a NOVEL is like that. It's a made thing and OUGHT not to contain a direct self-expression of the writer.

My COLLABORATION with Sally Potter on a SMALL movie, 'Yes,' was very special to me. It helped my GROWTH as an ACTOR.

I'm a big fan of the 'Harry Potter' MOVIES and 'The LORD of the RINGS' FILMS.

It's really cool to do, LIKE, a 'Harry Potter' evolution because you can really TAKE your TIME with the character development: really, like, don't RUSH past the implications of great POWER and great responsibility.

Some say it is the elements of hope and wonder in children's books that make them special. But there are many dark YOUNG adult novels these days. Adults loved Harry Potter, though it was WRITTEN for the young. In the end, it is probably up to the reader of any age to DECIDE if this book is for him or her.
