I TRY to UNDERSTAND PEOPLE who aren't as SMART as me and not be HATEFUL.

I'm lucky to have worked in theater all over the WORLD, but there's something magical about Broadway. The audiences are smart, they're EDUCATED. They GO in ready and they're up for it, they're up for the PARTY. It's a whole different atmosphere.

In Europe they CALL geeks 'smart PEOPLE,' and frankly I think we live in a CULTURE that doesn't value intelligence ENOUGH; so I am very PROUD in saying that I am a geek.

This is a GIFT that God has given me. I'm not smart enough to WRITE for everybody, but it's the love in these BOOKS that comes from Him and goes out to my READING AUDIENCE. I'm forever grateful for that. It's a privilege.

If you're too SMART it can limit you because you spend so much TIME THINKING that you don't do anything.

Which is the healthier kind of literary DIVERSITY: an un-gate-kept self-published BOOK world, RUN substantially through AMAZON? Or our current book world, which is part-gate-kept, part-not, with many different publishers and retailers and platforms? I'm not smart enough to figure it out, but if I had to GUESS I'd guess the latter.

I like to PLAY smart, three-dimensional WOMEN. I also like to play ROLES where the women are a LITTLE CRAZY. I just have a feel for crazy people.

You don't have to be DEAD to WRITE a CLASSIC, and you don't have to be LITERARY to be SMART.

How do you KNOW what it's LIKE to be STUPID if you've NEVER been SMART?

Just really, really BELIEVE in what you're trying to do. Don't let people alter that. Let people advise you and lead you down paths to MAKE smart BUSINESS decisions. But trust your instinct and trust that overwhelming drive that made you put all your dreams and EVERYTHING on the LINE.
