I ADMIRED Truman, AMONG Many Other THINGS, Because He Integrated The ARMY. I Admired JFK Because The Very First Civil Rights Legislation Was Passed At His Insistence. JFK Showed What You Could Do, Though He Was A Deeply Flawed Person, As We All Now Know.

Why Not Provoke Some THOUGHT And Get People Talking About Things? I LIKE Characters That Are Flawed Because We All Are. When People Break Up In A Script, You Think, Oh, Right, There Must Be TEARS Shed Here. But MAYBE The FACT Of The Matter Is That They're Both Laughing.

A Lot Of Children Grow Up In Poverty With Flawed PARENTS, But Their Inner WORLD Is Still As Inherently Filled With Wonder And INNOCENCE As Children Who Are Kept AWAY From The CITY's Underbelly.

For Any Character, Male Or Female, I Think It's Important To Have... It's Cliche To Say A Flawed Character, But To REALLY Think About The GOOD And The BAD And Make Sure That Both Are Present, And It Doesn't Just Become A Glossed Over ICON Of Perfection.

The Belief When Your MOTHER Gives You Away Is That There's Something Deeply Wrong. MOTHERS Don't GIVE Babies Away. There's Something Wrong With Me, Something Unlovable, Something Seriously Flawed In Me. It's A Fundamental Thing; It's Precognitive. You FEEL It Rather Than Think It. How Could You Not?

I Definitely Identify With Female Leads More; I Identify With REAL Female Leads, PEOPLE Who Are FLAWED And Have Issues And MAKE Mistakes, So That The Characters Represent What I'm About.

You Know We Are Flawed PEOPLE, So If SOMEONE Is GOING To MAKE A MOVIE About Me, They Don't Have To Make It Up. My Real Flaws Are Much Funnier.

I Think That RUNNING EMPIRES As A Way Of Ordering The WORLD Is A Flawed MODEL.
