I FIRST GOT involved in THEATER in 1968, at the HEIGHT of a social tumult. I was a poet.

Stop SETTING GOALS. Goals are PURE fantasy unless you have a specific plan to ACHIEVE them.

One of the lessons that I grew up with was to ALWAYS stay true to yourself and never let what somebody ELSE says distract you from your goals. And so when I hear about negative and FALSE ATTACKS, I really don't invest any energy in them, because I know who I am.

Of course as CHILDREN, we all, in all cultures and societies, learn BEHAVIOR from observation, imitation, and encouragement of various KINDS. So by the suggestion made, we all 'pretend' most of the TIME.

As I LAY so sick on my bed, from Christmas till March, I was always praying for poor ole master. 'Pears LIKE I didn't do nothing but PRAY for ole master. 'Oh, LORD, convert ole master;' 'Oh, dear Lord, change dat man's heart, and make him a Christian.'

I ACT, but I'm not necessarily an actor. Acting is just the first thing people see when they look at me. So I'd LIKE to do more THINGS.

The first one was quite CHEAP, but that was expensive for us. For my FOLKS to BUY on the Never Never. It was quite, you know, a rare OBJECT to have and I gained quite a LOT of status by having this.

Sometimes the situation is only a problem because it is looked at in a certain WAY. Looked at in another way, the right course of ACTION may be so OBVIOUS that the problem no longer EXISTS.

Like all of us in this storm between birth and DEATH, I can wreak no great changes on the WORLD, only SMALL changes for the better, I hope, in the LIVES of those I love.
